Photos capture more than the moment. They capture memories, emotions, and experiences.
I’m often asked what my process is like when working with couples. The most common concern my couples have is that they feel awkward and fear their photos will look stiff. They understand the importance of documenting their memories and want their photos to authentically represent their relationship, but don’t want them to look over posed. My couples typically aren’t trained models who know all their best angles. Their just people in love who want their memories documented.
One of the ways I achieve this is through my use of prompts, which introduce movement and genuine emotions to your session. You’ll be asked to do a series of seemingly strange or random interactions with your partner (all while I snap a few photos). I promise you though, there is a method to all of my madness! By focusing your attention on one another and the prompt I give you, your session turns into an experience instead of just a photoshoot.
Here are examples of some of the prompts you might hear:
“Walk towards me while bumping hips.“
“Airplane arms (with sound effects) into a bear hug.“
“Have a picnic and feed each other (whatever snack or drink you brought with you).“
“Whisper in your partner’s ear, your three favorite breakfast cereals in your sexiest voice.“
Ready for the experience? Let’s get your session scheduled!
